It’s that time again: another month has passed, and Little Man is now NINE months old. Math majors, that means that he’s been outside of the womb just as long as he was inside the mama-cocoon. If life continues to go this fast, I’d like to now request the ability to freeze time like Evie did on Out of This World. I promise not to misuse my powers and cause trouble for all the earthlings.
Current nicknames: Cancan, bubs, baby, little man.
Weight & length: his 9-month appointment is this coming Wednesday…to be updated.
Sleep story: Soon after last month’s Chronicles, I realized that it was impossible write my final grad school paper and still rock Canon to full-sleep for naps and bed times. True story. So, four days before the paper was due, I decided to ferberize the child. [Read book, sing song, place in crib, pat-pat, leave room – and then return to reassure the child every 3, 5 and 10 minutes repeatedly if they’re still screaming, without picking them up.] It was a bit rough at first, but he goes down now without a problem …aka: it worked. We’re now working at getting him down before he’s overly tired, which also then ironically makes him sleep longer.
Poop story: I believe in the power of bananas. That’s all I have to say.
Baby Daddy story: Baby Daddy has taken to giving Cancan the sports-related highlights that he used to rattle off to his “I really love you, honey, but can you hurry up so I can get back to Desperate Housewives?” wife: March Madness, the Masters, the Giants’ season openers, etc etc. Little Bubs happily babbles back to him, so frankly, I think it’s a win-win bonding situation (…or am I pitting them both against me?)
Feeling: like life’s too short to wallow in self-pity. I want to LIVE wholeheartedly, in the moment, serving and loving and being. But I’m also giving myself permission to listen to my heart and discern the Spirit and set boundaries accordingly. And drink cosmos, lots and lots of cosmos.
Musing over: how crazy-hard it’s going to be to discipline when all I want to do is laugh at his crazy little antics. He’s crawling and pulling himself up and spitting chunks of banana across his high chair at incredible distance and speed, with his personality developing all the more, a wee bit every day.
(re)Learning: that creating is so, so good for my soul. (Anyone want to do a crafty little barter? My friend Karla and I just sent each other some crafty “love” in the mail, and I’ve got to say, it was pretty awesome!)
