Week: 34 weeks!! As I was writing to my friend Brenda this morning, that means that I’m actually full-term – granted, he’s probably not going to arrive for another 6-8 weeks, but it’s gettin’ real up in here, up in here!
Size: Hello, little cantaloupe! (4 3/4 pounds and almost 18 inches long!)
Name: Little Caramel
Gender: baby boy – and have I mentioned that I SWEAR he high-fives me when I rest my own hands on el wombie? It’s like, hey mama, I want to reach out and touch you! I just say yes to this!
Maternity Clothes: Yes, and so grateful for the friends who have added to my closet their old clothes. The budget (and my wardrobe) is blessed!
Food Cravings:I’ll be honest: the heartburn’s been KILLING me lately, so whatever I can eat to take said heartburn away (which is generally protein), there it is. So ready for that part of it to be over.
Currently reading: Bringing Up Bebe (just 22 minutes left…thank you, Audible) + The Nursing Mother’s Companion + Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close + Renovation of the Heart
Most interesting fact: Kangaroo Care. I suppose I’d heard the term before, and was aware of the benefits of skin-to-skin contact, but upon reading about it in one of my books, I just fell in LOVE with the idea. Is it as widely practiced as it should be? Didn’t Grey’s Anatomy highlight this past season? Is there a better show I can reference, please?
Feeling: Like I want to kick my feet up, all the time. Like I want to not have sausage fingers and be able to wear my rings, all the time. Like I want this heartburn to go away, all the time. Like I’m whining as I write this, so I’ll shut up (all the time).
Missing: A regular night’s sleep. I suppose this is what every pregnant woman says (and hey, apparently it prepares you for parenthood), but it’s like my body can’t make up its mind: insomnia one night, then blessed rest the next – all with multiple bathroom breaks throughout the night hours. And of course this is paired with the locomotive-like sounds emerging from my esophagus.
Anticipating: Being as ready as we can be by the first weekend of June, just in case… Note to self: clean your car, Cara.
Tell me a story! How are you on this fine day, my friends?0
