But really, the musical’s got me thinking – I mean, besides the movies making my secret self want to start doing handstand and learn moves beyond my normal white girl hands-in-the-air repertoire, I love those three words: bring. it. on. It’s bound to be my mantra for the coming year, whether I want to embrace it or not. Bring it on: caramel baby, on or around July 1, 2012. Bring it on: parenthood, because really I know that even if I read a coffee table full of books, nothing’s going to prepare me for what’s to come. Bring it on: complete life change. Uh, another tricky date night to see a Broadway musical? Pretty, pretty please? Bring it on: days on end without showers…or so I’ve been told. Bring it on: Mr. Darcy taking the backseat as second child. Sorry hooch. Bring it on: the unexpected, the overwhelming love that I hear is never fully experienced until one has a child. Bring it on: being pooped and peed and spit on, again.
So that’s all I’ve got to hold on to: knowing that we must hold everything loosely, expect the unexpected, choose joy and laughter and boldly face what no man has faced before. Oh wait – wrong quote. Many have faced this thing called parenthood and babies and the unexpected of life, and have responded with a bring it. So life, bring it on. I’m ready. Kind of.
What advice do you have for we newbie parentals of the cutest little caramel you ever did see? And on the other hand, what in life are you saying BRING IT ON to?0
