No, this is not my house. No, this is not hanging in my house. Yes, I had high hopes of hanging these two shelves up yesterday for day 4’s creativity, and no, it did not come to fruition.
Yes, I just took a tutoring class and further learned the art of asking explanative questions, why do you ask?
So, day 4’s creativity: hang new shelves above the wall, and create a gallery of sorts.
These shelves had been on back order for awhile, and finally arrived this week. Squealing with joy, I took the smaller one out of the packaging and immediately wondered about two things: um, is this faux wood? (Actually, mango wood). But even more so, we already have two different color woods in our living room, and adding a third, even more yellow-y color to the mix just isn’t going to cut it – even if I do like this shabby chic sort of look.
So neighbor Kara came down and confirmed: weird wood and not the right color. I wondered whether I should then get all crafty on these new shelves, strip them and stain them a wood color I want – but that somewhat defeats the purpose of buying new shelves. So…as Kara pointed out, if I’m getting my craft on and like this style, they’re simple enough that I could just build them on my own.
And she’s right. Because I could then stain them the darker color (or another ca-razy vintaged color all together) and call it good to go. Anyone know where I can possibly get iron to hang them with, like the PB ones?
ps: I was successful in creatively wearing eye make-up yesterday. Bam! (I often don’t even put on mascara, so wear mascara and purple eye shadow – crazy girl).
Though I’m a few hours late, what are you creating? What’s making you come alive with creativity today?0
