Oh, how the oranges and browns and beauty of fall abounds! I’m loving adding some little decorations around our home for the fall season – these four have added a wee bit of festivity to an otherwise dull-natured newlywed abode:
1. First, it’s three cheers for fall! I quasi-copied this idea from a Pinterest posting, with my own twists of sort. Question: the miniature pumpkin…yay or nay? I like it, and then I don’t. He loves me, he loves me not, etc etc.
2. The front door is always needing help, especially after I read a blog from Shelley at the House of Smiths. So here’s a pumpkin with an “m” for Meredith that we can use every year on the front porch.
These last two crafties share one common, newly obsessive characteristic: chalkboard paint. I am LOVING it. I also just got a liquid chalk marker in the mail, and love how much cleaner it makes the writing look.
3. Here then is a two-fer: two for one, baby! First, I took an old juice bottle James had lying around and spray painted just a wee little bit of it with chalkboard paint. And as it now looks somewhat like a witch-like medicinal cauldron of sorts, I wrote the word “fall” on it, and put candy corns in the jar (not pictured). Then, in a Wisteria catalogue, I saw these extremely overpriced candy corn foam decorations – so instead of indulging in that which I can make on my own, I bought some foam from Michaels, painted them from top to bottom, and then lightly sprayed them with glitter paint. Eh, they work for now.
4. “Is this my glass?” That seems to be a common phrase when we have friends over for food and wine – so I’ve been looking for creative ways to designate glasses. Though I’m still pining for some old Scrabble pieces to make these, I took a chance with our “everyday” glasses, and spray painted the bottoms with chalkboard paint. And voila! – they turned out perfectly:
So, what have you been creating lately? How have your insides been coming alive with creativity?0
