help a sista out.

I’m actually, really, truly, not maybe-kind-of-sorta, in the process of finishing a book proposal.  Which means that my brain is in overload thinking about the big picture, including future manuscript …and I’m so, so excited.  And while nothing’s actually been signed, or even turned in for that matter, a vision has birthed, and the Muse of Writing has planted residence in my fingertips.  So, here’s where I need YOUR help – would you, Radiant Readers, help me think of articles, books, quotes, stories (i.e.: your stories) I might be able to hunker down with, especially in upcoming summer months:

*The stages of grief

*The desert/wilderness (regarding spirituality)

*Dark night of the soul

*Liminal Space – living in that unknown, in-between, gray place

Where have you seen these ideas illuminated in your favorite classic works of literature?  How about in a poem or in a story from the Bible (or other ancient religious relics)?  Think outside the box – and in the meantime, thank you thank you thank you!

  1. How amazing and wonderful that Zondervan approached YOU! Met a friend for coffee today who is an editor and knows all the people at all the Christian publishing houses (she sells lots of devotion also too). She is kind of in charge of the business end of Oregon Christian Writers so I get the behind the scenes scoop sometimes. Believe me when I say that it is DEFINITELY a God thing that you are being offered this opportunity in this manner! I am sure you aren’t taking a bit of it for granted. So excited for you. And I hope you will remember me when you are a rich and famous best-selling author who travels the globe doing booksignings!

    Love, Chris

    1. Oh wow, thank you Chris! I see you’ve had a conversation with Noel. 😉 Yes, I am definitely NOT taking it for granted – including the fact that when I submit the actual proposal (hopefully by June 1) that it doesn’t mean I’ll actually have a contract. If nothing else, it’s been an amazing incentive to simply feel believed in and step into the actual dream. Even if it doesn’t work out with them, I’m still going to have self-imposed deadlines, like with research this summer, and with continuing to write even if nothing is “official.” (And I’ll then start pursuing agents, if necessary, too). xo.

  2. Ummm — are you writing a book about my life, friend?!?!? haha – Thank God for peace after a lot of grieving. I would have never been thankful ten years ago, but God is SO good in that journey through the dark. I was blessed with so many perfectly-timed readings. I wonder if we could come up with a Skype date time that we could chat??? I would love that, most, selfishly, but otherwise I can send you a list of the spaces that were put in my path as I have journeyed!!! So many great nuggets to hold dear, for sure!! So happy you are doing this, friend. Can NOT wait to read the final product, no matter when that is!!

    1. Absolutely to a Skype date! I’m pretty flex – Canon naps between 1-3 PST and sleeps after 7. So whether a weekend or weekday, shoot me a text or an email with some times that work for you and we’ll get one scheduled. 🙂
