cast a vote for christmas.

We are big fans of artist, photographer and friend Peter Thomsen, who took our engagement and wedding pictures, along with fun fall photo sessions the past couple of years.  Now certainly, were I to still live in the northwest, I’d hail the work of Brenda Joy, or if we found ourselves closer to Sacramento, I’d hit up The New Mrs. Linley or Christina Harrison, along with a slew of other photo-savvy friends I’m likely forgetting right now.  But alas, today I boast in Peter’s skills.  And Peter, my friends, is fantastic.  I mean, look at some of the solo and two-person shots he captured…

I’m a baby with a bottle, baby… (Do you know what song I’m singing there?  You’re welcome).

Happy screams, I think.

I don’t even have a snarky comment for the beauty captured here…

I know, I just can’t stop.

Now, given that the Little Bubs slept the whole way down to Santa Cruz and woke up Grumpy Is As Grumpy Does, we didn’t get the smiliest of pictures with the three of us in particular. What would you then choose as the annual fall print canvas and/or Christmas card?  [Note: I believe that Christmas cards should involve faces of the adults too, not just the kids.]

Should it be the parents looking longingly at the child with beloved bottle?

Or the parents looking on wistfully as Little Preppy leaves for college.  I mean…

Of course, there is this classic shot as well:

HBH, why do you have to smile so perfectly?

Your turn!

What do you think?  What shot of the three of us is worthy to adorn refrigerators all over North America?  Also, Peter did not pay me to say these really nice things about his mad skillz.  I just think he’s that great.

  1. I like the one with your son out in front the best. The bottle pic is cute, but your friends and relatives will be mad they can’t see more of his face. If you want one with all of you in focus, go with the one where your son is looking off to the side. He still looks adorable and it’s really good of you and HBH. (I feel a little weird calling your husband hot, even in an abbreviation! Your whole family is very photogenic, though!)

  2. That last one is my favorite. I’m serious. It cracks me up! You could come up with a funny/witty caption and just own it.

Last year we did fall portraits when Anna was 14 months, and there was not one of her smiling while we were smiling. I was kinda bummed but ended up choosing two different shots- one of her looking at the camera but not smiling, and the other where she was smiling but not looking. I LOVE sending cards, usually, but this year I’m too exhausted thinking about getting nice photos of her and the baby so I’m skipping it all together. 🙂

You’ve got a cute little family!

    1. Oh thank you, friend! Yup, I think it’s totally his age, but we were laughing, as a year ago (when we did the same pics with Peter), with Canon around 3 months old, he did nothing BUT smile. I suppose every parent gets it. As per the cards, I’m sure I’ll be giving it up soon enough, but for now, it’s a favorite Christmas tradition! xo.

  3. I wanna vote! I say either the swing thing where you’re the only one looking in the camera or the one where Cannon’s walking and you two are a little blurry. Beautiful photos. You’re a babe.

    1. Well, thank you, my friend. I’ll be sure to send you a Christmas card – is that weird? I like you. (now do I have your latest address – message me if you think I might need it again, will you?) xo

  4. Bottle or college, but my first choice is bottle. The bottle will exit your lives soon enough; why not capture it so beautifully now? And besides, a picture of milk goes well on a fridge.
