What can I say? We just arrived home from Maui – and as the clock nears midnight, I realize that I’m still on Hawaii time, so a post it is. Today, with 7 minutes remaining on a Friday, I’m joining in with this idea…
What better than to see a week’s worth of Maui pics…
One word: relaxation. No email, no cell (okay…minus occasional Words with Friends and FB), no alarm clock. I find that when I all the way “turn off,” it takes me a good couple of days to decompress. I want to be in the loop and on top of things – probably in an effort to think that I’m more important than I really am – so when those modes of communication are taken away, and all I have left is me, my thoughts and I … this state of vacation bliss eventually happens, but I have to let myself get there first.
James and I turned one! The second day of vacation also meant one official year of marriage, so off to Mama’s Fish House outside of Piea we went. Um. Go there. But in the meantime, how sweet it is to be loved (and serenaded!) by you, love!
James has been DYING to wake me up at 2.30 in the morning so that he might take me on the early-morning sunrise adventure of a lifetime to Mt. Haleakala. We compromised and left at 7. Here we are on the way down from the summit, still driving higher than the clouds.
True confession: I love cheese. I’d probably lose 30 pounds alone if I were to stop eating the stuff (and washing it down with wine as well, I suppose). Even truer confession: goat cheese is beginning to win out over our cow friends. How utterly delightful to then hear about and stumble upon the Surfing Goat Dairy on our way down the mountain. Yes, it was all we’d ever dreamed of, and indeed, we took some frozen goat cheese home with us. We’re dedicated.
Oh, my sweet, sweet love. We end up falling into somewhat of a rhythm over there: eat lunch out, find a cool place for happy hour, and then grill for dinner. Here was sweet, sweet love on our deck right after some yummy grilled salmon and halibut.
Finally, on our layover in Honolulu today, I spontaneously got to see an old friend, Michelle. Don’t you love connecting with those people that you don’t have to explain yourself to – even if years have passed, you just get right back into step.
There’s a week in pics – what did your week LOOK like?0
